Gran Fondo World Series Coaching

Get coached by the pros for better results in the Gran Fondo World Series, and gain the skills that will help you qualify and represent your country at the World Championships.

The Gran Fondo World Series are the only UCI accredited Gran Fondos and therefore the only events that enable you to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships where you can race against other cyclists from around the world, representing your country in your national team kit.

It's the highest level of sportive, endurance or gran fondo racing open to amateur cyclists and the experience of a lifetime.

Our coaches have the personal experience of what it takes to train, qualify and race these events and can help you do the same.

Our pro coaches are dedicated to developing your skills, technique and fitness to help you achieve your goals.
Team EF Coaching athletes benefit from access to a huge library of content developed by our coaches and the EF Pro Cycling sports science team.
Our coaches and athletes have reached the highest level of the sport, in everything from Gran Fondos to the Tour de France.
With Team EF Coaching, the only coaching organization that's part of a WorldTour team, you'll get the best preparation to take on the Gran Fondo World Series.
How does our coaching work?
Personalized, professional coaching that fits around your lifestyle and goals.

Your coach will build a plan around your target events, taking into consideration your availability to train (and recover), your strengths and weaknesses, and you current level of fitness and skills. From there they'll guide you through, monitor your progress and give you feedback on whats going great and what could improve.

Most of our coaching is done online but our coaches are also available to support on-site at key events. So if you fancy having Nicki Sørensen (who's ridden 19 Grand Tours for stars like Contador and Schleck, Basso and Sastre) as your super-domestique you've come to the right place.

What does it take?
Qualifying for World Championships isn't easy, Team EF Coaching are here to make sure you can.

Racing or even qualifying for the Gran Fondo Worlds can be a daunting prospect, especially if your are limited on your training time. We specialise in making sure your training is entirely productive in order to give you the best preparation for racing these tough endurance events, no matter how little time you have.

We've seen our athletes win qualifier races with less than 9 hours a week training, and qualify with far less. Our coaches have ridden and podiumed some of these events so have all the inside knowledge to make sure your training is efficient and effective and gives you the best advantage for your race.

The level of athletes at these races has increased incredibly in the last few years as the series gains popularity. To qualify for the World Championships you need to either podium or finish in the top 25% of your age group. What that means in real terms is that qualifying speeds can average over 40kph on shorter flatter courses and 30kph on longer mountain Gran Fondos.

Zack's Gran Fondo story

Team EF Coaching's Director - Zack Morris, is a coach who believes firmly in 'practice what you preach' and in early 2023 set himself the goal of winning a National Championship and qualifying for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

From a period of hardly training at the start of the year (and having never raced a Gran Fondo), he lost 40lbs (18kg) in 16 weeks, won his age group TT National Championships in Canada (and in doing so - qualified for the Gran Fondo World Championships) then went on to compete in both the TT and Gran Fondo at Glasgow 2023, finishing 9th in his age group.

Our coaching team is full of athletes with personal experience of what it takes to race, qualify and win at every level.

What is the process?

If you want to qualify for the World Championships then we have a tried and tested plan for you to do so, following these steps:

  4. Train - with the structured training plan designed by your coach and use regular check-ins to make sure you are progressing

  5. Qualification - Ride your qualifying event using the skills and fitness you've gained with the Team EF Coaching program

  6. World Championships - Once you've qualified your coach will work with you to build a strategy for the main event and optimize your training for the race
